8 days til MN

So I had to post a picture for my brothers Josh and Bryan....to show that their homemade ornaments for us last year made it on the tree this year. This is the closet I could come with a decent picture of Charlotte next to the tree without her freakin out with excitement! I can't put any presents under the tree, I know she would somehow ruin them. :)

So 8 more days...Cornell and I are getting soooooo excited! I heard about the big snow storm up there, and I can honestly say them I am kind of jealous of the snow. The gloomyness down here does nothing for our Christmas midwest spirits!

I am almost done Christmas shopping also...just 1 or 2 more things! This is the earliest I have been done, I think EVER! I sent alot of gifts home, but I still have a lot here and need to start thinking how i will get them all on the plane without spending a fortune in baggage fees!

Also, have to thank my dad for saving our computer. No more virus!

Baby Shower

Are you coming to Kelly's shower?

If you haven't RSVP'd, let me know today please so we can plan the food and dessert menu!

Love ya!

PS-I think my computer at home has a virus, so I haven't been able to post on my blog. I'm at work right now using the computer. Any suggestions for virus stuff from anyone? Thanks!

Shop til you drop

I was talking to Meg tonight and telling her about one of my favorite places to shop on the internet. Click HERE for the link, it is a website for only things homemade and I love it. I have ordered a few items and have been very happy....my last purchase was our Christmas Cards that I am mailing out hopefully sooner than later!
Here are a couple of the cute randoms that I found today...

Decorative Wall stickers...i've been seeing these everywhere and think they are cute! :)

Puppy for SALE!

Charlotte Anne Thomas. I am hoping this is just another "stage" that she is going through. She has decided over the last couple weeks to be naughty, not nice...this includes chewing on everything in sight...one day it was dad's chapstick, the next night she DUG in my purse and found my chapstick from Bath and Body Works and practically ate the whole thing! Maybe she just has chapped lips you say? No...and she also has plenty of toys to play with. Although I'm not sure that is any better. This past week, she tore her tennis ball toy into shreads and then chewed on the rubber and swallowed little pieces...that can't be healthy? Last night, she jumped up on the counter to grab my matches for lighting the candles, and chewed the box??? What the heck?
This picture is here new trick. She used to come in the bathroom while i took a shower...now, she decided it's alot more fun to jump on the bed, AND lay DIRECTLY on our pillows while I am showering. Um, no offense, but gross. I lay my head there. I took this picture as i exited the bathroom to find her here.
Cornell thinks we need to give her some tough love and not pay as much attention to her. She does believe that she is part human and doesn't need to go in a kennel.
Tonight I was trying to get into holiday spirit and put the reindeer antlers we bought for her on...she wasn't having it. The only way Cornell got a picture was if I physically held her head still. Charlotte was not harmed in the process. Maybe she is just acting out cause I treat her like my child. Who knows?

Christmas cookies

So I'm back(if anyone noticed I was gone)! :) I haven't been very busy(just work), and not much to write about! No fun pictures to post...we are pretty boring people I guess!

Anyways...I am in full Christmas spirit down here in Charlotte, NC! Ready to start baking goodies, but I need your advice...what is your favorite Christmas treat? I'm not sure what mine is yet....maybe gingerbread cookies or just the cute sugar cookies that me, Meg, Mom, auntie Lu, and Kirst decorate on Christmas Eve every year? I want to make a few batches of different treats to give as gifts and need some ideas!

Tell me yours!!!

Hi Brat..I mean Brad

Okay, so as if Meg and I don't have a hard enough time being away from our families around the holidays...
On Thanksgiving, my dad is known for making these yummy, very delicious rolls to go with dinner. Well, we usually end up having about 5 rolls before dinner even begins. So my thoughtful father(and mother) sent me and Meg this email this morning to let me in on what we are missing down here in NC.

So nice aren't they? Yeah right...haha! They are just jealous they aren't having these like we are...

Black Friday

I'm so happy its friday! I worked 40 hours in 3 days and am definitely taking today to rest and be lazy! :) Laying in bed, drinking hot chocolate, and watching television has never felt so good!
So, as you know, I'm all about saving money and finding a good deal. Must be the Wick side coming out in me, or this economy just stinks. Anyway, we've all heard of black friday right? The day after thanksgiving, mega shopping day with mega sales. I avoided this day like the plague for 24 years, but gave in last year and headed to Target for a good deal. I got Cornell a little video camera/camera for $79(i think) and 5-6 DVDs that were $5 each. I was pretty pumped on the money I saved...So I have been looking forward to going shopping this year on black friday for a few months now. I was going to get a good portion of Christmas shopping done. And too bad for me, I found out last week that I have to work 7am-7pm this year on that friday. Booooooo.
Anyway, I hope everyone else has the day off! And want to let you in on all the deals. Here's a good website that has all the major stores and their sales for the day. Click HERE.
These deals include DVDs, cameras, games, houseware, etc. I was hoping to find this...Photobucket
I would love to have a big ol Kitchen Aid mixer so I can get serious about my baking! If anyone finds one on a good sale, tell me! :)
Happy Shopping!

life WITHOUT cable television

So we have been about a month now without our cable television and we are surviving...well, I am anyways! :)
Poor Cornell has been talking the past few days about wishing he could "somehow" just get ESPN so he could watch football, college basketball, and now NBA. I secretly, sometimes, am thinking how grateful I am that I don't have to watch every football team play ALL weekend long...it's great! But I feel bad once and awhile for him.
I have wanted this plate for a long time, but not sure anymore, it doesn't really apply to us right now! :)
Photobucket
I love the site this is from, all really unique pottery, and funny! Our name is Mudd.
Now me on the otherhand...I only really miss cable on monday night when "The Hills" are on MTV. We have been renting alot more movies lately, and for pretty cheap. Anyone ever heard of RedBox? It's in our Walmart across the street and it only costs $1 to rent movies, including new releases! It's awesome! Check it out here.

fall

Next week is Thanksgiving! I am so ready to eat me some pumpkin pie, I've been craving it for awhile! This will be the first year Cornell and I are "in charge" of making the meal. My mother-in-law and bro-in-law are coming down from Ohio next week and we are getting excited...And I already told Cornell that I am making green bean casserole even if no one except me eats it! I have had it every year of my life(i think) for thanksgiving(thanks to Auntie Lu) and I'm not about to change that!
haha...
What is your favorite dish at Thanksgiving?

Red-Green-Red-Green

Okay, so maybe I'm a bit excited for Christmas this year...but I'm not the only one. Last weekend when I was at the mall to get my haircut, Santa Claus was there to take pictures with all the kids! Seriously! The beginning of November!
I've gotten a couple Christmas lists so far and it's so fun to read them! I promise, to all those that care, to have Cornell and I's Christmas list out by tonight. I keep getting side-tracked when I go to finish it. And I figured out if I begin shopping now, i will have exactly 3 paychecks to take a "Christmas" fund out of and spend that on gifts...being organized with our money also makes it more fun!
Anyway, I was also thinking how fun it would be to have a Secret Santa bloggers edition! haha, i'm obsessed with blogs this year! But wouldn't that be fun? maybe too expensive with shipping these days though(especially canada)? But I sure love recieving things in the mail, especially gifts!
I'm off to start a little shopping! HO HO HO!

Sam's Club

I think I may have inherited my recent obsession with Sam's Club from of course, Mr. Brad Wick. Cornell and I bought our Sam's Club membership after our wedding, we decided that it would be very beneficial to our household. I have enjoyed pretty much every trip we have taken to Sam's Club since then. Our trips begin by Cornell wandering into the electronics department (where all the flat screen televisions are located) and I browse the jewelry sectioin looking at the cheap diamonds, every-single-time. We then move on to the pet aisle...20 bucks for 55lbs of dog food...then household items such as dishsoap, dish sponges, garbage bags, toilet paper, etc. Our grocery items are normally chicken breasts, egg beaters, milk, and salmon. Oh yeah, and we also buy our toothpaste and mouthwash there. The bill is never under $100 but I figure these items in bulk are saving us money in the long run!
So today I read an article on the 5 best and worst deals at Costco/Sam's Club, here are my findings...
Best Buys
1. Alcohol(who cares)
2. Milk, butter, eggs(sweet)
3. Electronics(my husband and father will be excited about this)
4. Meat(awesome)
5. Prescription Medications(doesn't apply to me right now)

Worst Buys
1. Designer clothing(what the heck? never seen this at Sam's Club)
2. Items that don't get fully used(don't go shopping here when you are craving anything, you will be eating it for months!)
3. Frozen foods(people usually don't have the freezer space to hold it all)
4. Paper goods(no more toilet paper from sam's club)
5. Gasoline

You can read the full article here.

Not sure this was useful to anyone, but it doesn't hurt to hear the best deals in this economy! Oh yeah, and Dad, I didn't see anything about huge bags of M&M's... :)

BRRRRR....

So, you may remember this photo from an earlier post, "Where's Waldo?" on my old blog...It came from one of Bryan's football games at the beginning of his season. Can you spot my dad?
Flash forward to last weekend...Can you spot him now? Along with my mom and Beth. Looks as though only parents and girlfriends are the real fans! LOL! :)

You know you have a kid that plays football in Minnesota when the field looks like THIS, before the game!!!

Whale

We had such a wonderful weekend...and I am feeling like a huge whale as a result! haha!
We went to dinner last night at the cheesecake factory and it was delicious. Of course after our appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip, I was full and had about half of one of my fish tacos. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach! Cornell ate his rack of ribs and then we both managed to "force" down banana cream pie cheesecake. This picture is after all the eating took place...glad i wore black! ;)

When I got home, I had to put these in water...

Isn't my husband awesome? I am the typical girl and LOOOOOVE to recieve flowers! Especially pink!

Not much else is new with us...Cornell is still staying very busy with basketball and school. I think they actually have a couple games this weekend? I worked today and realized that my ideas of picking up extra shifts to help with the holidays, isn't gonna happen. Our hospital and managers aren't allowing us any overtime...so that stinks. We have been discussing me possibly getting another job for a little while, so I think I will start looking more seriously tomorrow. Whoever said that nurses get paid well...is a big liar...well, nurses in North Carolina anyways.
Keep us in your prayers!

I just wanted to tell my husband that I love him...
thanks for being my bestest friend!

Forty six and counting...

So there are officially 46 days left til Christmas!

Yikes!

It is coming quick...

The weather was nice again here today, in the 70's. I think the hot weather plays a role in my mind that the holidays are a long ways away...how can it be November and i'm wearing a tank-top? I just can't get over it, sorry to keep talking about it!

So look at these cute cupcake pops I made today! These aren't my exact ones, but they are the design I was trying to replicate...I found them online and think they are so darling! They turned out tasting yummy, Cornell was even excited to try this bite-size treat! I'm sure I got about 1000 calories by just licking my fingers in between making them all!

We also went to a fundraiser for jackson park ministries. The Tassy's invited us earlier this week and it was alot of fun...good food too! Here's a picture of Cornell and Wade. Wade is one of the awesome men of God in Cornell's life...he is also a bit taller than Cornell I think! You don't find that very often!

Wade and his wife, Katy, and their 3 children are going to Africa in February/March. They will be gone for 4 years to do missionary work. We are so excited for them but also sad because they are so awesome! Cornell and I hope to be able to go visit them during their time in Africia.

Mark 16:15
Jesus said to His disciples, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."

"Noah's Ark"

I am so excited for this little Wick baby to pop out of Kel's belly! I've had numerous baby shower theme ideas in my head for weeks, but after finding out that its a litte boy AND his name is going to be Noah, this only seemed fitting...so we are doing "Noah's Ark." So cute huh? My mom and I already have some great ideas and now we just need to get Megan's creative ideas flowin. It's going to be the party of the month of December! VIP only...

Goodnight

I am staying with my promise to blog everyday this month....

FINALLY!

The day has finally arrived...
It's Anna's birthday! haha! jk! Well, actually it is so happy birthday again Anna! But I am obviously talking about election day. It has taken over our country for the past, ummm, year or so it seems...I have done my best to stay out of the political world because it gets to be so ugly but I will exercise my right to vote today! I hope everyone says a prayer and heads to the polls as well! :)
In other much more exciting news, I find out if I am the AWESOME Aunt to a little girl or a little boy tomorrow morning. I think we are all getting anxious to see what's growing in Kelly's little bump! :) At first, I was certain it was a little boy, but now I have my doubts...

a BIG thank you

We got a wonderfully big box of gifts today! My mom-in-law blessed us with a package including books, photos, cards, and a special date night fund. The cards are beautiful, I was so touched...
Thanks Cleveland MOM!

...not sleepy...

It is 11 pm here, and i am wide awake...
Cornell is catching his zzzzzzzz's already, I should take a picture of him like he did me this afternoon during my nap! I woke up to a camera in my face....

I will give him a break though, he has a busy couple days with basketball. Don't even get the weekends off! :(

Oh and ps...welcome to our new blog! I was wanting something different and couldn't figure out how to change the layout without losing all of the last blog's info, so here we are! I showed Cornell tonight and he said he likes the old blog better because it has more color...so then I started regretting changing it. But oh well, we will go with this for now. I am proud of myself for making the header tho!

So is it november? Or june...because today it was 81 degrees here. I wore a tank-top. Even though we have lived here for over a year, I still can't believe the weather change sometimes! Here are some pictures of behind our apartment building...I took Charlotte back there to play this afternoon.

Not sure why those photos are positioned all weird?
I read your blog today Kim, and since you say it is national blogging month, I am also going to try and blog on a daily basis also! Even if it is just a photo! Hopefully everyone won't get sick of me!
Okay my eyes are finally getting tired...I'm off to read and fall asleep.

Fall back

Did everyone enjoy the extra hour of sleep? Cornell and I sure did!

Here's Cornell's picture for the team website! So handsome! His team had "Midnight Madness" last night, except for it was at 6 pm and not midnight. It included the girls and boys team doing activites such as 3 point shooting, dunk contest, scrimmage, half-court shots, etc. Cornell did awesome in the scrimmage, he had about 4-5 dunks! I was a proud wife in the stands! :) I took some pics, but they didn't turn out...

Yay for Saturday

I'm spending my day baking cupcakes! Hooray!
